South Carolina’s Sober or Slammer Program

The holiday season is in full swing, so the South Carolina Department of Public Safety has started its anti-DUI initiative, Sober or Slammer. Through this initiative, the department hopes to get closer to their target of zero traffic deaths in S.C.

S.C. law enforcement will be working to keep the roads safe this holiday season through public safety checkpoints and additional police patrolling the roads. Drivers may also notice ads or bulletins around their towns urging citizens to be safe and never drink and drive.

In South Carolina, highway deaths due to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs make up close to half of all traffic fatalities. S.C. law enforcement is cracking down and has made their message very clear: either drive sober or you may end up in jail. Please stay safe on the roads this Holiday season. If you are drinking, call a taxi, a Uber or have a designated driver.
