March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, and at the John Price Law Firm we want everyone to be aware of the prevalence and severity of traumatic brain injuries, so that you can take steps to prevent brain injuries from occurring.

This year alone, over 1.5 million Americans will be injured in an accident that results in traumatic brain injury. These injuries can result from a variety of accidents, from falls to car or motorcycle accidents to being struck by blunt objects. These accidents can cause permanent disability and even fatality. Permanent disabilities include but are not limited to impairments in cognition, decision-making abilities, and emotional abilities.

Concussions are one of the most common forms of brain injury. While a single concussion most likely will not result in permanent damage, a series of concussions can and has led to more serious, even fatal, brain impairments.

Here at the John Price Law Firm, we represent those who have been injured in accidents resulting in traumatic brain injuries. But first and foremost, we hope that you, your family, and your loved ones will take the appropriate precautions to avoid brain injuries.

Safety precautions include always wearing your seatbelt, having the appropriate car seat for your child’s age and size, and always wearing helmets when riding a bicycle, or playing a contact sport like football. These simple steps will help protect you and your children from traumatic brain injury.
